The Blue Djinn of Babylon

I've just started reading a book about Djinn otherwise known as Djinni or Genies. The two characters that it mainly concerntrates on are two kids named Philippa and John. It also revolved around there mother and Djinn that is mostly known in the Djinn communities as Layla. Whch is mostly known as Miss Grant.

But the difference from Philippa and John is they are half human and half Djinn. Their mother is a Djinn known as Layla (Miss Grant) and their father is a human known as Edward (Mr Grant).A Djinn is a creation of fire and it's powers/abblities are very weak when it is winter. That is why they are so known to be found in desserts. Also a human is a Creature of Earth and has slim to no power.

In many of the paragraphes it was meantioned that there were good Djinn clans and evil Djinn clans. The Evil ones were Djinn that made halloween by making the human dress up as monsters and give them snacks, feast and even sacrifices. The evil clans were named Ghul, the Shaitans and the most evil clan was Ifrit.

Thats most of what I have read.

Hi Haarera,

Thanks for your great post. The Blue Djinn of Babylon sounds like a really interesting book. I am always looking for good books to read over the holidays and this one sounds excellent!

When I'm not reading I am blogging with students as part of the Summer Learning Journey programme. I would love it if you'd consider getting involved this summer. It's a great way to learn about the world, meet some interesting people online and practice your reading and your writing before you head back to school next year!

The Summer Learning Journey programme is open now and it runs until Friday 27 January 2017. Please hop onto the Summer Learning Journey website (https://sites.google.com/site/summerlearningjourney/welcome), choose an activity from the 'Weekly Activities' tab and post your answer to the activity on your blog.

Mark, a fellow teacher and commenter, and I will read your blogs and post comments!

I'm really looking forward to blogging with you this summer, Haarera!

Cheers,
Rachel

Kia ora Haarera!

Ko Mark taku ingoa. Kei te pehea koe? I'm a teacher working on the Summer Learning Journey with Rachel. I also really enjoyed reading your blog about the Blue Djin of Babylon. The Djin are mythical existences from the part of the world, and there are many famous stories based on them, including a more recent Japanese animated adaptation of the adventures of Sinbad.

I hope to see you joining us online soon and to read more of your blogs. It is pretty clear that you are a good reader and writer, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do! Haere mai!

Kia kaha!

Mark
